Mine is a generation that circles the globe and searches for something we haven't tried before.
So never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay the welcome.
Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience.
And if it hurts, you know what? ... It's probably worth it.

A Blues Bash ...

Saturday night at the Cricketers in Kingston. Well, once in a while you have to blow the cobwebs off, have a few beers with a few mates and listen to a loud, cracking blues band.

It helps that the maniac drummer on the skins was mate Dave W., who’s birthday it was. I even showed up early to help him set up but mostly got in his way, I think.

Awesome band, and loud, too. Nice we had our own private smoking balcony!

… And if the music between sets was not to your taste, that’s my fault - we rigged up my mp3 player to the sound system (well, sound tech Jamie did) to provide ambient background, so the tracks were my taste. Not all good.

Good Weekend - Bad Weekend …

Ever had a weekend with a bit of both?

Friday - Bought some cool accessories for my ‘Chicago’ mountain bike, stripped and rebuilt it, got it just absolutely perfect.

Saturday - At Knebworth for the Sonisphere to see Placebo, Anthraz and Rammstein (see previous post). It was awesome, it was epic.

Returned home on the motorcycle at 2 a.m. and collapsed after a long day, a long ride.

Sunday - Woke, looked out my veranda window, to discover that while I’d been away, some skanker had nicked my now-perfect mountain bike from the garden.

So, if you’re around Kingston-Surbiton area of London, keep a look out for a white ‘Chicago’ mountain bike, with a few rust spots, and if you see it, let me now.

Rammstein’s First, Only, UK Show …

Having been a HUGE Rammstein fan for many years, finally for us UK fans the moment has arrived: Rammstein’s first EVER UK appearance, and the only one this year, this Saturday on the Apollo stage at Knebworth. Tickets sold out months ago, I got mine in February.

Knebworth really has come along as a venue since I saw Led Zep there in the 80’s. This weekend Sonisphere festival may not rival Glastonbury in size but it does in quality - Iron Maiden, Placebo, Anthrax, Alice in Chains, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper, The Cult, Slayer, Pendulum, many more you’ve probably heard of - but headlining it all - Saturday night - is Rammstein.

They’re not to everyone’s taste (industrial metal with pyrotechnics, angle grinders and gruff lyrics belted out in German) but they are true musicians, and true performers. Their stage shows have become legendary, and now after seeing them only on DVD we in the UK get to see them for real.

Oh, It’s going to be epic.

Rock band Kings of Leon forced off stage by pigeon droppings …. !!

Has to be the best headline of the week.
